MT is planning to extend the wolf hunting season by one month since the wolf quota of 220 might not be met by the end of the year. The state is also considering to offer the use of barbaric and indiscriminate traps as tool to reduce the wolf population. The Bozeman Daily Chronicle has offered an online poll re: the this plan so if your hackles are raised, please click on this link and vote “no” to show you oppose this proposal.

The wolf is no longer an endangered species…they are wreaking havoc on the deer and elk populations. How long did it take the elk to recover? It was only through sound hunting management (and with the money from hunting licenses I might add) that the elk did recover to a manageable and sustainable level. Protecting the wolf to the point of no hunting, including the use of “barbaric” traps, is irresponsible and bad wildlife management. Look at the havoc that they are already causing to these populations. Your undoing decades of sound management and the elk and deer populations are paying for it.
