Review Panel Determines Gray Wolf Delisting Plan Not Supported by Science

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) just released the Independent Peer review of its wolf delisting plan: “Regarding Status of the Wolf Under the Endangered Species Act.

The peer review committee commissioned by the USFWS has concurred in determining that science does *not support* the plan. We now call on Secretary Jewell to immediately withdraw USFWS’s proposal.

This reopens the public comment period for 45 days; stay tuned for details from our Awareness and Action Committee.

One Response to Review Panel Determines Gray Wolf Delisting Plan Not Supported by Science

  1. Neil Ross says:

The results of the Independent Peer Review are the first beams of palpable light we’ve seen in our recent efforts to conserve wolves across the nation. Let it be a sign that what we do for these keystone species we do for all species, and that precedents we set now will change
our position in the ring. In this struggle to conserve the wolf and stress non-lethal management where required, we have shown the wolf’s detractors that neither science nor statistics can in the end, be manipulated for political or financial gain without firm, persistent opposition by responsible citizens. We’ve also shown the ringleaders of these forces that we stand firm. Thank you, WCC, for drawing the sword out of the stone. You’ve enabled each of us to remain informed, optimistic and strong on the wolf’s behalf.
