Did I Just See a Wolf? The Truth About the Eastern Coyote
The WCC encourages people to learn not only about wolves, but for all wild species. On March 28th, the WCC classroom was jammed packed with people interested in learning more about Westchester’s largest wild canine predator – the eastern coyote. Coyote Researcher, Daniel Bogan, provided an overview of the coyote’s natural history and revealed how these animals have adapted to living in suburban areas across North America. Guests shared their own personal stories of coyote encounters and one woman even brought a video of a coyote successfully hunting in her backyard! After the talk, it was time to visit ambassador wolves Kaila, Lukas and Atka. Guests were surprised to see Atka devour a banana and Lukas run off with Kaila’s cantaloupe! The red wolves proved elusive, hopefully they were preoccupied with planning their family…
