Camp Critter Cries Wolf!
August 20, 2010 – Atka and his education team visited a dedicated group of kids today who are making a difference in the lives of homeless animals! The SPCA of Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, NY offers children a chance to lend a helping hand to animals in need as a part of their “Camp Critter” program. The camp offers kids an opportunity to enhance the lives of the animals by creating enrichment projects, engaging in healthy interaction and helping to fulfill the shelter’s mission to place the pets (like 15-year-old “Hootie” featured below) in loving and permanent homes. Today is the last day of camp so as a treat, the SPCA invited Atka and the WCC to their neck of the woods to thank the young animal advocates for the great work they have been doing for Atka’s canine cousins. With kids like these, the future looks good!
WCC’s Maggie Howell was enchanted by “Hootie” the Chihuahua. He’s looking for a warm lap to call home. If you want to learn more about Hootie and the other wonderful animals at the Westchester SPCA, please call 914-941-2896.
