Montana Releases Annual Report on Gray Wolves

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks released their annual report on gray wolves today and have declared that the “population is stable.” The agency counted 627 wolves at the end of 2013 compared to 625 in 2012. The number of breeding pairs, however, has dropped significantly from 37 to 28 – a staggering decrease of about 22% and an indication that this population might be on shakier ground than MTFWP’s headline suggests.
