Raising Pups is a Family Affair

Everyone wants quality time with Mom.

Wolf families usually consist of the breeding pair and their offspring of varying ages. This critically endangered Mexican gray wolf family is made up of parents (Trumpet and Lighthawk), three yearlings born in 2018 (Babs, Joe Darling, and Kral), and four pups born one month ago. A wonderful, multi-generational family!

Trumpet and Lighthawk are demonstrating critical parenting strategies and techniques for the yearlings to employ when they have pups of their own, but sometimes the yearlings still want to be pups as well! A little attention from Mom is always important, no matter their age.
