Ambassador Wolf Zephyr

Born: April 20, 2011

Zephyr (meaning "light or west wind") is a beautiful black male with a prominent nose and a feisty personality.

He and litter-mate Alawa were born on April  20, 2011 and arrived at the WCC on May 27 of that year. Together, with younger brother Nikai (Born April 2014), the wolves live on exhibit to help WCC guests best understand and appreciate the importance and plight of their wild kin.

Zephyr is the self-appointed leader of the family - expressing his status with erect posture and tail carried high. Most of the time younger brother  Nikai exhibits his lower position through submissive/puppy-like behavior. With lowered tail and posture, he acknowledges his role and rank in the family hierarchy. He is often pawing, tucking his tail, and licking the muzzles of his siblings - some of the natural submissive gestures expressed by less dominant wolves.

During WCC education programs, Zephyr is a natural crowd pleaser, happy to howl with the slightest prompting. His engaging personality helps Zephyr earn an impressive number of fans!

The wolves at the Center are supported entirely by people like you. Your interest and participation are essential, and there are many levels of sponsorship.
