The diet of the wolves living at the Wolf Conservation Center is kept as natural as possible, and includes a lot of deer and other wildlife killed by vehicles.
If you find a deer that is recently deceased and from within New York State ONLY (due to regulations around disease), please contact us at the number below. Our volunteers can collect the deer if it is reasonably close to the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, NY. For the safety of our volunteers, we will not pick up roadkill from the side of major highways including NY-84, NY-684, the Saw Mill Parkway, or the Taconic Parkway. We also accept roadkill deer from New York state dropped off at the Wolf Conservation Center - but please contact us first.
We do accept some donations of other meat, and occasionally fruit or vegetables, to be used as wolf food or enrichment items. Additionally, our organization is allowed to receive deer from anywhere that have been fully processed or butchered, as well as beavers and some other wildlife. Please note we do not accept wild birds of any kind.
If you have a food item to donate that you think might be suitable for the wolves, please let us know using our Contact Us page.
Many thanks to the following local businesses and individuals who have been very generous in helping us feed the wolves at the Wolf Conservation Center!
