The parent wolves in a pack are often referred to as the "alpha pair," consisting of an alpha male and alpha female. While "alpha" is still widely used, most scientists prefer to identify the parents of the pack as the breeding pair or simply as the pack parents.

Movie Night Under the Stars at the WCC! "Lords of Nature: Life in a Land of Great Predators"

Award-winning filmmakers Karen and Ralf Meyer of Green Fire Productions have captured the predators' ongoing drama in their new documentary, Lords of Nature: Life in a Land of Great Predators. Join us and enjoy this compelling 60 minute documentary under the stars alongside the 2 of the WCC’s apex predators, Ambassador wolves Zephyr and Alawa! Bleacher seating will be available but we recommend guests to bring beach/camping chairs of their own for more a comfortable experience. After the film, guests will have the opportunity to visit Atka as well as the WCC’s critically endangered red wolves and Mexican gray wolves. Each guest will receive an official 2011 Wolf Awareness Week poster! Please bring flashlights.
